Only six in 10 automation initiatives have met client expectations

According to HFS Research, only 6 in 10 automation initiatives have met client expectations. In addition, it is observed that the results are often less than satisfactory when such programmes are directly tied to headcount or cost reduction.

Such findings are not unexpected. After all, many companies are struggling to deliver a meaningful return on investment given the high cost of most mainstream RPA software, coupled with low utilization levels of the RPA bots.

If you fall into this category, you might want to consider switching to an open source RPA software such as Robocorp. Some of the commercial benefits offered by the Robocorp platform include:

- Consumption based pricing where you pay only for what you use

- Price cap on individual processes which ensures that your monthly billing never spirals out of control (think cloud platforms)

- Unlimited number of developer licenses which allows you to scale the number of automation developers without a corresponding increase in cost

Do note that while Robocorp provides a low-code automation studio with drag-and-drop interfaces for citizen developers, it is primarily a Python-based tool that is suitable for pro developers looking to automate highly complex processes.
